... A MAJICAL SITE ...
It began in 1573 when Antoine d’Erlach and his brother Borckhardt built a Maison Blanche off the Yvorne village. In 1584, a dreadful rock fall forced many inhabitants to leave the area. Already in 1609, Maison Blanche walls were reinforced and covered with a new roof.
Around 1750, Frédéric Würstenberger – the governor of Aigle, the next town - bought the house. His family was the owner until the end of the XVIIIth century. One hundred years after The Maison Blanche was named Château Maison Blanche when a donjon with a pinnacle was added to the building. In 1930, the Schenk and Rosset wine families bought the castle and dedicated its ground to the vine.
In 1974, the roof and the framework were burnt down but the castle was immediately restored to become the pride of the region again. |
